MountWizzard4 version 3.0 released

MountWizzard4, the mount-modelling software for 10Micron mounts, has been upgraded to version 3.0. This is a major upgrade compared to the earlier version 2. To start off, the installation procedure is a lot easier and similar between platforms (MacOS, Linux, Windows). For details, see the installation instructions. Mac users with an M1/M2 Mac should still run the program in the Rosetta emulation mode of Terminal. See an earlier blog for details on how to do that.

There is a long list of smaller and bigger improvements. The User Interface has seen some significant re-arrangements of tabs, making for a more logical grouping of functions. The UI has also gained several customisation options. The environmental section now supports live Meteoblue seeing data. The almanac now includes set/rise/phase data of the moon. Under the Tools section a routine has been added to analyse telescope flexure and hysteresis. The mount can now be controlled using a game controller. There are options to see four camera live-streams, especially nice if you operate the system remotely.

The hemisphere panel has seen some valuable improvements. It is much easier now to define the horizon mask, move horizon points around and load terrain images.

The options under imaging have also been expanded and include now photometry functions (aberration, roundness, etc.) and sensor tilt measurements.

For a full list of all new functions and improvements, see the changelog. The developer behind MountWizzard4 is very active in constantly updating and improving the product. And if you run into some kind of problem, he also delivers customer service.

MountWizzard4 is available free of charge.
