Uranus Meteo Station available

The Pegasus Astro Uranus Meteo Station has started shipping. This 3-in-1 environmental sensor was announced on 27 November 2020, with a projected release date of Q1 2021. We’re almost two years further, but it is finally here.

The device contains multiple sensors and records an impressive number of parameters. It is actually three devices in one. A weather station, showing temperature, humidity, dew point and atmospheric pressure, a Sky Quality Meter, showing sky brightness and cloud cover percentages, and a GPS receiver, showing precise time and location information.

The Uranus can be used hand-held as a stand alone device and is battery operated. Battery can be charged via the USB-C connector. That same connector can also be used for control via a computer. The Unity software from Pegasus Astro gives full access to and control over the Uranus. For use with other astro-software, an ASCOM driver is available. An INDI driver is under development and is set to be released soon. A second RJ12 connection provides GPS export via the NMEA standard. For example this can feed into certain mounts, like those from 10Micron.

I have purchased one myself and have been able to do some initial testing. There will be a blog post on this site with a review of the device. But that will have to wait for the INDI driver to become available.

For more information about the Uranus, you can visit the Pegasus Astro website. Both on CloudyNights and the 10Micron forum there are threads discussing some early experiences.
