ZWO ASI224MC
The ZWO ASI224MC is a camera that was specifically dedicated to planetary work. The high frame rate of 150 fps allows for lucky imaging of bright targets such as the planets. As it is a colour sensor, no additional filters are necessary to capture these colourful targets. The sensor has a very wide format, which is more practical for lunar than for planetary work. But the planets need so much magnification that sensor size is never really an issue.
Cameras like the ASI224MC have a very small form factor. There is no cooling and just one USB-3 connection is used to operate the camera. At the front is a practical female M42 thread. It connects to all main telescope systems and allows for a direct mounting on extenders such as the TeleVue Powermates.
The ASI224MC has been replaced by cameras with more modern sensors and is no longer in use.
