HCG49 is a quartet located in the constellation Ursa Major. The four galaxies have similar distances to Earth, in the range of approximately 480 million light-years. Two members are spiral galaxies, while one is elliptical. The fourth is an irregular galaxy. The brightest galaxy (a) is also known as PGC 32899. It has an angular size of 0.5’ ×0.2’. Apparent magnitudes range from 16.3 until 17.7. It is one of the smallest galaxy groups from the catalog with a group diameter of less than an arcmin.
